Headteacher Visit to Norway

Sometime ago our Headteacher, Mr Knight, attended an "etwinning" conference in Dublin and formed a link with a school in Norway. The school is situated in Oslo, which is the capital of Norway. After some discussion Mr Knight was invited to visit the school, Linderud Skole, to meet the teachers and talk with them about our school. This invitation turned into something much more complicated because he was asked to talk to all of the teachers at Linderud about some work we do at Darlinghurst called "Assessment for Learning". He was also asked to talk to some of the children at Linderud about life in England and the ways in which our schools were similar.

When the local education authority from Oslo heard about Mr Knight's visit they invited him to be the key speaker at a conference for all of the Headteachers of schools in Oslo. Over 400 people attended the conference and listened to what Mr Knight had to say.

He said, "It was a brilliant experience. I don't speak anymore than three words of Norwegian but I presented to all these people in English and they understood almost every word ! They asked lots of questions and were very impress by the things I explained about our school the ways that we work. They have invited me to go back again - I'm looking forward to it !"
